The trial of former President Trump in Manhattan is a stark reminder of the deep political divides in our country. With the presidential election less than six months away, this prosecution, based on old accusations and questionable legal theories, is a miscarriage of justice.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case, driven by political motives and reliant on Michael Cohen’s discredited testimony, exemplifies a broken system. Procedural irregularities, like the judge’s shocking instructions to the jury, further highlight the absurdity of this trial.

As I have already stated, Democrats have failed to address critical issues like inflation, crime, and illegal immigration, so they are targeting their chief political opponent instead. This unprecedented and acrobatic use of lawfare is not just deeply wrong, it’s chilling. It exemplifies a broken system that enforces one set of rules for those who bow to the left’s agenda and another set for those who challenge it.

This trial is a part of broader political attacks on President Trump, undermining justice and democracy.
Republican leaders — if ever a time to step up, it’s now.

I had the privilege of meeting with Veterans in South Texas during a special roundtable event. It was an honor to listen and engage with these brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country.

I met with the City of Corpus Christi to get an update on the Inner Harbor water facility project. As our population and industries expand, securing additional water resources is essential and this new water treatment plant will provide thirty million gallons per day to the Coastal Bend. Corpus Christi serves as the regional water supplier for seven counties and half a million people, so this project is a significant investment in our future, one that will benefit generations to come.

In our meeting, I emphasized the need for transparency and fiscal responsibility. It’s vital that we protect taxpayer dollars while also supporting economic growth.

As some of you know, I joined a bipartisan Congressional Member Delegation trip (CODEL) to Turks and Caicos a couple of weeks ago to advocate for the Americans who were unjustly detained in the country. You can read more about that visit here.

Since our trip, Tyler Wenrich and Bryan Hagerich have been released and will be able to return to their families in the United States. I am relieved and grateful to learn that Turks and Caicos have made the correct and just decision in these cases. Our prayers remain with Sharitta and Ryan as we continue to advocate for their speedy release and remain committed to not resting until they are both back home where they belong.

I spoke with Maria on Fox Business’ Morning With Maria to discuss the unprecedented political witch hunt we are seeing out of New York with President Trump and about what we know now about the coronavirus pandemic cover-up.

On Wednesday, I joined the Bob Jones Show while in Corpus Christi. We discussed the latest happenings in Congress and outlined the ongoing efforts to push back against the entrenched bureaucracy of the DC swamp.

I was honored to receive the Champion of Limited Government Award for being one of the top 10 Members of Congress most aligned with the limited government principles of the U.S. Constitution.

Receiving the ‘Champion of Limited Government Award’ is a profound honor. As a firm believer in the principles laid out by our Founding Fathers, I have always strived to uphold and defend the Constitution. This award is a recognition of our collective efforts to ensure that government remains limited and accountable to the people it serves. I am dedicated to continuing this work and fighting against overreach and inefficiency in Washington.

You can read the entire scorecard, here.

God Bless,

Michael Cloud
Member of Congress
