RELEASE: Cloud and Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) Secure $1.94 Million for the New Maintenance Facility at CCRTA

WASHINGTON—Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) secured $1.94 million in federal funding for the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA), as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026, to begin the much-needed replacement of its new maintenance facility.
This funding will support plans to develop a new 85,000-square-foot emergency-ready facility designed to withstand Category 4 hurricane winds and serve the long-term needs of Nueces County.
The new facility will provide:
- 21 modern work bays for fleet maintenance and repairs;
- Spaces for parts and receiving, electronics work, and facilities upkeep;
- Climate-controlled environments to protect technicians and reduce lost workdays;
- And training areas to support workforce development and safe operations.
“This project meets both the daily needs of working families and the long-term readiness of our region in times of crisis,” said Congressman Cloud. “This funding is a step that will help CCRTA serve South Texans effectively. I applaud the local leaders who’ve worked with vision and persistence to move this effort forward.”
“This funding is a major step forward for the community we serve,” said Derrick Majchszak, CCRTA Chief Executive Officer. “It supports critical pre-construction work for a new maintenance facility that will help safeguard CCRTA vehicles and equipment, as well as provide the capability to assist City and County vehicles used during emergency response and evacuation efforts.”
“As Board Chair, I want to thank U.S. Representative Michael Cloud for supporting this important project,” said Arthur Granado, CCRTA Board Chair. “I also want to recognize our Board of Directors, especially our Board’s Legislative Committee, and its Chair, Lynn Allison, for their hard work and dedication to moving this critical initiative forward for CCRTA and the community.”
