RELEASE: Rep. Cloud and POCCA Celebrate Funding for Port Improvements
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) joined Port of Corpus Christi Authority (POCCA) CEO Kent Britton, and the Port of Corpus Christi Commissioners to discuss the funding secured for the Port of Corpus Christi through the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill. This funding will enhance operations and maintenance, reinforcing the port’s role as a global leader in energy exports.
Congressman Cloud has been instrumental in advocating for the Port of Corpus Christi and its infrastructure needs. Through his efforts, two new building projects in Corpus Christi have been authorized under WRDA: the Corpus Christi Joint Resident Office and the Regulatory Field Office. Additionally, $33.425 million has been allocated for the Port of Corpus Christi’s Operations and Maintenance, ensuring the port’s work can continue for years to come.
Rep. Cloud released the following statement:
“Ensuring that the Port of Corpus Christi continues to lead the nation in exporting American-produced energy to our global allies and partners is critical for both our local economy and national energy independence. The secured funding in the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill and WRDA demonstrates our commitment to maintaining and improving our infrastructure and allowing Corpus Christi to be a leader on this issue. These investments not only bolster our economic growth but also strengthen our national security. I am pleased to see this important work being done right here in Corpus Christi.”
