CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A hometown hero is being honored.

A measure has been signed renaming the U.S.  post office on Tancahua Street after Captain Robert ‘Bob’ Batterson.

Congressman Michael Cloud told 3NEWS it will be known as the ‘Bob Batterson Post Office.’

Batterson was a familiar face in the Coastal Bend and a long-time USS Lexington volunteer.

He was also among the last known local survivors of the Pear Harbor attack before he passed away in August of 2023 at 102-years old.

Congressman Cloud said the move was a long time coming. President Biden signed off on the renaming earlier this week.
