CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new bill was introduced Monday that aims to boost funding for military facilities, including the Corpus Christi Army Depot

CCAD is home to the world’s largest rotary-wing repair facility and provides more than 2,000 jobs in the Coastal Bend.

The Depot Investment Reform Act plans to update the process used to determine federal funding.

Dist. 27 Congressman Michael Cloud tells 3NEWS the new approach will help depots receive adequate funding in times of high demand and help them to plan for the future.

“There’s a lot of things that we’re doing to make sure that they have the people they need, they have the resources they need to continue to support our military,” he said. “We know our community believes in our veterans and our servicemembers, and it’s awesome to see what we’re able to do in our community to support what’s going on.”

Cloud said the bill is in its early stages.
