Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Congressman Michael Cloud’s resolution; H.Res 90, demanding the government of the People’s Republic of China immediately release Texas native Mark Swidan.

Congressman Cloud introduced the resolution in February 2023 to bring Mark Swidan home after 10 years of being unjustly and arbitrarily detained.

“By voting for the immediate release of Mark Swidan, we are sending a clear message that we will defend Americans who are wrongly imprisoned by authoritarian regimes,” said Congressman Michael Cloud. “I’m proud to lead my colleagues in advocating for the immediate release of Mark Swidan and condemning his detainment by the People’s Republic of China. I urge this administration to make bringing Mark Swidan home one of their top priorities. The human rights abuses that Mark Swidan and his family have been subjected to must end and this administration must take the steps to expedite his immediate release.”

This resolution is part of an ongoing effort to bring home Mark Swidan after he has been held as a prisoner for 10 years.

RELEASE: Rep. Cloud’s Dismantle DEI Act Passes Out of House Oversight Committee

Congressman Michael Cloud’s (R-TX) bill, the Dismantle DEI Act, passed out of the House Oversight Committee on a party-line vote, 23-17. This legislation would eliminate divisive so-called “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) practices within the federal government and return to a colorblind, merit-based system in our taxpayer-funded institutions.
