Congressman Cloud Leads Investigation into IRS Politically Targeting Americans

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) led over 30 of his Republican colleagues in an investigation into the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding how the agency could potentially be weaponized against law-abiding Americans.

As Congress considers the so-called “Inflation Reduction” Act, the IRS could soon have 87,000 new agents, 5 million rounds of ammo stockpiled, and more than 4,000 firearms.

The IRS has also recently promoted job postings for their “law enforcement division” requiring agents to be “willing to use deadly force.”

Following the partisan raid on former President Trump’s home, Congressman Cloud has a growing concern with the Biden administration’s willingness to politically target law-abiding Americans.

“The IRS has politically targeted Americans before, we can’t let it happen again,” Congressman Cloud said. “With a possible 87,000 new agents at the IRS, I have serious concerns as to how this agency could be weaponized against law-abiding Americans who oppose the far-left ideology of this Administration.”
