Washington D.C. – On Wednesday, Representative Michael Cloud (TX) hosted a veterans roundtable in Bastrop to hear directly from local veterans and discuss his legislative priorities.

As past reports have well documented, the VA has not lived up to the standard of care our veterans deserve, and there is still significant work to be done. Congressman Cloud recently voted in favor of the FY24 Military, Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which fully and responsibly funds the Department of Veterans Affairs, and continues to work with veterans’ groups to find ways to improve healthcare and benefit programs.

Representative Cloud released the following statement on the meeting:

“One of the best parts of my job is getting the chance to meet our Veterans who gave everything up to serve America,” Representative Cloud said. “These men and women could have easily chosen to fulfill other obligations or pursue selfish goals, but instead they chose to defend the liberties unique to our country. We owe these heroes an unpayable debt of gratitude. It’s unfortunate that our government has not provided the quality care promised, and addressing this issue is a priority for me — whether reallocating wasteful spending to more effective uses or policy changes to make sure Veterans have better options. My team and I will continue to work with our local groups to improve VA services while assisting individuals to make sure they have the resources they need. Our servicemen and women deserve no less.”
