WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Michael Cloud (TX-27) applauds the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) for receiving a federal grant for a new Maintenance Facility.

CCRTA will receive $46,280,000 from the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Low and No Emission Grant Program, provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). These funds will enable CCRTA to replace its 50-year old maintenance facility, allowing for the strengthening of public transportation and emergency preparedness for the South Texas region. This facility will allow for uninterrupted operations during times of crisis because of its modern and hurricane resilient construction.

This comes after Rep. Cloud sent a letter of support to the FTA advocating for CCRTA’s grant application, highlighting his commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and services in the 27th District. Earlier this year, Congressman Cloud also secured $1.94 million in federal funding for this same project as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026.

The new facility will provide:

  • 21 modern work bays for fleet maintenance and repairs;
  • Spaces for parts and receiving, electronics work, and facilities upkeep;
  • Climate-controlled environments to protect technicians and reduce lost workdays;
  • Training areas to support workforce development and safe operations.

Rep. Cloud released the following statement:

“I am thrilled that CCRTA has secured this vital funding to construct this new maintenance facility that will meet the needs of our region and the need for long-term preparedness. It was a privilege to work with them on this issue and utilize our federal resources within the Department of Transportation to help secure this grant. I applaud the CCRTA for their diligent work in moving this forward for our region, and I thank our partners at the Department of Transportation, including Secretary Sean Duffy, for their support of the Coastal Bend community.”

“Thanks to Representative Cloud’s support and advocacy, CCRTA now has the resources to construct a new maintenance facility,” said Derrick Majchszak, CCRTA Chief Executive Officer. “This resilient, future-ready facility will improve operational efficiency, create a modern, safe workplace for our maintenance staff, and enhance transportation reliability. These benefits will extend to the broader Coastal Bend community, supporting economic growth and stronger regional mobility for generations to come.”

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to sincerely thank Representative Cloud for his steadfast support of CCRTA’s critical need for a new maintenance facility,” said Arthur Granado, CCRTA Board Chair. “This facility will enhance our ability to provide reliable service and give emergency response partners the support they need before, during, and after extreme weather events like hurricanes.”
