WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House Appropriations Committee unanimously voted to advance the FY2027 Military Construction Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act yesterday, marking the first appropriations bill to pass the committee this year.
This bill honors our nation’s commitment to those who have served and sacrificed for our country by fully funding Veterans’ health care programs and Veterans’ benefits, while directing the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue to advance its efforts to replace Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in San Antonio.
As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Cloud helped secure key provisions to advocate for the needs of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC) and the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). For NASCC, the Committee passed language urging the Navy to address the needs at NASCC, particularly as it relates to construction and other improvements for child development and school-aged care centers, quality of life projects for servicemembers and their families, and projects in support of the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA). In addition, the Committee passed language urging the Army to accelerate completion of CCAD’s Aviation Multipurpose Facility military construction project.
Congressman Cloud also pushed to increase the amount of funding for child development centers across the Navy & Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force, recognizing the situation facing our military families.
“NAS Corpus Christi and CCAD are fundamental to the readiness and lethality of America’s naval aviation formations and the sustainment of the Army’s rotary fleet. Both are deeply embedded in the fabric of our community and are key economic drivers,” Rep. Cloud said. “I look forward to our continued work throughout this Appropriations process in securing critical funding for our military installations while responsibly stewarding taxpayer dollars.”
