Newsletter: President Trump Visits TX-27—and Water!
Welcome Back to Corpus Christi, President Trump

We were honored to welcome President Trump to the Coastal Bend last week, a region that has seen so much growth through this Administration’s America First economic policies.
President Trump outlined how places like Corpus Christi are leading the charge in reshaping our economy and how Texas exemplifies what is working: real manufacturing, energy independence, and more jobs for real Americans.
In his words, “we’re going to keep on working and we’ll keep on fighting. Texas will keep on drilling. Corpus Christi will keep on shipping. And the United States of America will keep on winning, winning, winning like we’ve never won before.”
I had the distinct privilege of traveling with President Trump on Air Force One down to Corpus Christi, and I look forward to our continued work together on desalination and dredging efforts in the Coastal Bend.
Congratulations to all of our Port and City officials who put on such a fantastic event on another beautiful day in Corpus Christi! I couldn’t have agreed more with the President’s closing remarks: “I love Texas. I love Texas. It just represents something special. It’s success. It’s great, incredible people.”

Water for Texas
We’ve been working closely with the White House to tackle the serious water challenges facing our district, notably in Corpus Christi. After his speech, President Trump committed to ensuring that our region has the resources necessary to thrive and grow on the desalination front. In his words, “[Corpus Christi] is one of the most vibrant places in the country… We’re going to take care of it.”
I appreciate the President recognizing how critical this issue is for our community. I look forward to our continued work together, alongside local and state officials, in bringing our desalination efforts across the finish line.

Pray for Peace in the Middle East

As our U.S. Armed Forces conduct one of the largest military operations seen in decades, please continue to pray for the protection and wisdom of our troops across the Middle East.
President Trump has taken swift and decisive action to lay the groundwork for a true and lasting peace in the region that is not vulnerable to the whims of a despotic Islamic regime and their promotion of terrorism all across the world.
President Trump and his team have consistently stated that there is no interest in being drawn into another forever war in the Middle East. Let us pray that this conflict ends swiftly and justly while also bringing stability to the region and freedom to the Persian people.
Happy Texas Independence Day

Happy Texas Independence Day! Yesterday, we celebrated the grit and determination of the Texans who chose freedom over tyranny. From the brave stand at the Alamo to the victory at San Jacinto, their courage changed the course of history. On March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence made it official: Texas would chart its own path. That same independent spirit still defines our state today. It lives in our communities, our small businesses, and our commitment to keeping Texas strong, free, and full of opportunity for the next generation.
Earlier this month, I had the chance to visit the very site where the Convention of 1836 took place when I visited the Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site. 59 delegates met here in a simple building called Independence Hall to debate, draft, and adopt the Declaration, formally establishing the Republic of Texas.

The State of the Union is Strong

As President Trump declared during his State of the Union last week, today, the State of our Union is strong. President Trump highlighted the remarkable progress our country has made and honored the heroes who exemplified courage and service over the past year.
Among those recognized was Coast Guard Petty Officer Scott Ruskan, who received the Legion of Merit for his heroic actions during the devastating floods in Texas last summer. A rescue swimmer stationed at Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi, Petty Officer Ruskan saved more than 165 lives during the emergency response.
President Trump also outlined a legislative agenda for Congress to advance in the coming months, including:
- The Stop Insider Trading Act – banning stock trading by members of Congress.
- The SAVE America Act – requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.
- Codification of the Great American Health Plan – shifting funds from insurance companies to individuals’ health savings accounts and lowering prescription drug costs.
- Measures to prevent large investors from purchasing single-family homes.
- Legislation to crack down on repeat criminal offenders.
These initiatives are aimed at protecting American families, strengthening our economy, and ensuring fairness and accountability across our nation. President Trump concluded, reminding the nation that, “For our destiny is written by the hand of Providence. And these first 250 years were just the beginning.”
USDA Farm Bridge Applications Opening

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has opened enrollment for the Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) program, which will provide $11 billion in one-time payments to eligible row crop producers.
The enrollment window will run through April 17, 2026. Payments will be based on 2025 planted acres and established commodity rates. Producers who have already filed their 2025 acreage reports can access pre-filled applications online, or they may apply through their local Farm Service Agency office.
In our district, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with countless farmers and row crop producers who keep our Texas economy moving and who represent the best of the Texas spirit. I am thankful for President Trump and Secretary Rollins’ for providing essential relief to these farmers who face temporary market uncertainty. Since January of 2025, this Administration has provided over $30 billion in agricultural assistance.
