Introducing the Permanent CBDC Ban Act

In order to permanently prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), I introduced the Permanent CBDC Ban Act. A CBDC is a digital version of a country’s official currency, enabling its central bank to access and monitor all financial transactions.
A Central Bank Digital Currency would be the ultimate tool of government surveillance and control thrust upon the American People. A government-run digital currency would allow federal bureaucrats to track Americans’ purchases and gain unprecedented insight into their personal finances. It would hand the unelected Federal Reserve unprecedented power over your money and civil liberties.
The 21st Century Road to Housing Act contained a provision that was alleged to temporarily restrict the Federal Reserve from issuing a CBDC. This “restriction,” as written, however, does more to signal a potential start date than to keep the Federal Reserve from building a CBDC. A permanent ban is needed to take the option of a CBDC off the table.
That’s why I introduced the Permanent CBDC Ban Act. This act removes the expiration date of the temporary “ban” to ensure that our kids and grandkids do not have to deal with a CBDC. (Read the bill text here.)
Rep. Cloud is joined by other members across the House who continue to fight alongside him for a permanent ban.
“Unelected bureaucrats should never have the power to track, monitor, or control Americans’ private financial transactions under the guise of a government-run digital currency,” said Rep. Roy.
“This is not just wrong; this is a dangerous and direct threat to our freedom and sovereignty,” added Rep. Donalds.
“The temporary ban that sunsets in 2030 is not enough. This one-sentence bill makes the ban permanent, as it should be. BAN CBDC—FOREVER!” said Rep. Self.
“That’s why I’m proud to support Rep. Cloud’s Permanent CBDC Ban Act and ensure Americans, not Washington bureaucrats, remain in control of their own money,” concluded Rep. Moore.
A government that can track, monitor, or control every financial transaction is a government with too much power. A CBDC is a direct threat to our privacy, and the ban on it must be permanent.
Fauci Pleads the Fifth

On July 29, 2026, under subpoena, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), was questioned before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Dr. Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right 111 times when asked about the origins of COVID-19 and national mandates related to the pandemic.
Dr. Fauci’s inability to address questions Congress and the American people have about COVID confirmed what many Americans have long suspected. Even as more evidence comes out about the origin and lack of scientific basis for decisions made during those years, Dr. Fauci continues to demonstrate actions lacking remorse.
Dr. Fauci shaped COVID-19 policies that shut down small businesses, closed schools, and deteriorated millions of Americans’ lives. He owes the American people transparency about how his policies were made.
Back in June 2024, I questioned Dr. Fauci directly on his role in the pandemic response, where he was unable to point to any science to justify the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and social distancing guidelines. This is not a new fight, but one I’ve been waging for years.
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has voted to hold Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress and refer him to the Justice Department for potential prosecution over his refusal to answer questions. Americans deserve real answers about the pandemic response.
Congress has a duty to keep pursuing them.
