WASHINGTON—After hard-fought debates in committee, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026 has favorably passed the House Floor with a 218-206 vote.

This week, the House passed the MilCon-VA Act 2026. This delivers a funding increase of 3% to support our veterans, modernize military infrastructure, and invest in the families who serve our nation,” said Cloud. There is also language included to address the deteriorating conditions in the Child Development Center at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station—positioning South Texas to benefit from the funds set aside for centers nationwide.

This bill reflects a commitment to our service members by focusing first on real benefits for those who wear the uniform and the families who support them. While we are one step closer to moving the full slate of FY26 appropriations bills across the finish line, the work still continues on.

Below are key highlights from the bill:

  • Allocates $453 billion in total funding—increased funds from FY25—showcasing priorities to those who serve our nation.
  • A $75 million increase for Child Development Centers to improve care facilities for military families.
  • $970 million for the Bridging Rental Assistance for Veteran Empowerment (B.R.A.V.E) to reduce veteran homelessness.
  • Includes language to address deteriorating conditions at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station Child Development Center.
  • Fully funding veterans’ medical care.
  • Prohibits taxpayer funded DEI, gender transition care, and abortion-related funding at the VA.
  • Prevents the VA from reporting veterans’ personal information to the federal government without approval.
  • Bans outsourcing by the VA from the People’s Republic of China.
