Questioning Michael Cohen
At a hearing on Wednesday, I questioned Michael Cohen, the President's former lawyer and a man who will soon be going to prison for lying to Congress. He has committed four distinct federal crimes that each "involved deception" and were "motivated by personal greed and ambition."

A congressional hearing should be a search for truth, but this requires witnesses with credibility. I don't know how we're supposed to determine the truth when the best witness they can bring before us has already been convicted of lying to us.

During the hearing, I questioned him not only about his past deceptions but also about contradictions between his testimony earlier that morning and statements he had made in the past, discussed in a sentencing memo after his conviction in U.S. District Court. Check out the video for the complete exchange:

SURVEY: Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

This week I pushed for Congress to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This bill was not even about abortion - it was about requiring medical care for children who have already been born. It should shock our consciences that Congress voted down this bill.

There should be no debate that a child who is born alive should be cared for and protected.

Please let me know what you think of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act through this one-question survey.

Homeowner Reimbursement for Harvey Damage
Last week I met with the Victoria Long Term Recovery Group to discuss the General Land Office's Homeowner Reimbursement Program and other ways that my office can help bring assistance to the people of our district.

If your home was damaged by Harvey and you are able to provide receipts for repairs you have made, check the Homeowner Reimbursement Program page to see if you might qualify.

My office is available to assist with this or any other hurricane recovery issue you might have, so please call or come by if we can help.
