Happy Veterans Day!
Happy Veterans Day! Today we honor those who have given of themselves for a cause greater than each of us – those whose uncommon sense of duty has led to uncommon acts of service – and to remember that the blessings of liberty we all enjoy are often preserved at a high price.

May God bless our veterans and their families!
Survey: Keystone XL Pipeline Blocked
A federal judge has blocked construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would transport Canadian and American oil to refineries in Texas and other states, creating jobs and keeping the price of energy down. The project’s permit was challenged by environmentalist groups and originally denied by the Obama Administration before being granted by the Trump Administration.

Do you agree with Judge Morris’s decision to block construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline? Take this one-question survey to let me know your opinion.

Working Toward Recovery

Aransas Pass was the only city in the Coastal Bend to lose its water tower from Hurricane Harvey, and this week we celebrated a long overdue groundbreaking for a new water tower!

A lot of work by a lot of people went into making this happen, and I will continue to work with local leaders from Aransas Pass and all across the district to help move the process forward as long as the recovery is still ongoing.

Making Government Work For The People
If you know anything about Washington, D.C., you know it works for well-connected special interests that preserve their power in part by creating laws that are difficult for hardworking Americans across the country to comply with or even understand.

Making government work for the people of our district has been and will be a theme of my time in Washington. Year after year, new and more complicated laws are added to the books, so much so that the Library of Congress has stated that calculating the number of current federal laws would be “nearly impossible.” The number and complexity of new laws makes it very difficult to keep track of what Congress is actually doing.

So I have cosponsored two bills designed to help taxpayers know what is going on inside the beltway: the Readable Legislation Act and the Searchable Legislation Act.

The Readable Legislation Act would prohibit certain kinds of complicated language that currently make bills incomprehensible to most readers. The Searchable Legislation Act would require every bill or document produced by Congress to be published in searchable electronic formats. While this would just be a first step, these two bills would be a good start toward restoring transparency and accountability to Congress.

Keeping Our Economy Strong!

The American economy is booming! Pro-growth policies like keeping taxes low and keeping the government out of our business are making a real difference in the lives of workers and their families.
