Taking the Office on the Road
|My top priority as your representative is to serve you and others I represent in Congress. One way I am able to serve is by helping families and individuals navigate the federal bureaucracy and receive the assistance they need from agencies like the VA, FEMA, Medicare, USCIS, and the IRS.
As often as we can, my staff and I hold mobile office hours to connect with those who don't live near one of our district offices, and this week I was thrilled to be able to talk with residents in Caldwell and Bastrop Counties about their questions and recommendations.
If you would like us to come to your community, send me a note, as we are scheduling office hours across many communities. And if you have questions or need assistance but have not been able to meet up with us yet, please feel free to give my office a call at (361) 884-2222 and we would be happy to help.
Please Tell Me How Obamacare Has Impacted You
I’ve heard from many folks across our part of Texas about how the new health care law has affected them. As we continue to debate health care reforms and as we brace for even higher Obamacare-driven health care premium increases this year, I’d like to hear how this law, it’s mandates and costs have impacted you and your family.
Do you have a story - positive or negative - that illustrates the state of healthcare in America? Tell me about it here. Your information will be kept confidential, but as your Congressman it would help me to know how you have been impacted.
Tell Me How You Are Using Your Tax Cut
The tax cut bill that became law earlier this year has cut taxes for millions of Americans and resulted in higher pay checks 90 percent of workers. I’ve been hearing folks about how the tax cut has helped them better meet expenses and increase savings.
How has the tax cut law impacted you? I’d like to hear from you as we work to make these tax cuts permanent. Tell me about it here.
Your information will be kept confidential, but as your Congressman I would help me to know how you have been impacted.
Job Creation in District 27
During a visit at our Caterpillar factory in Victoria this week, I asked what was driving their hiring growth here in Texas, and they pointed to the state's business-friendly climate as a key factor. And on the federal level, they reported that this past year's tax reform has allowed them to be more competitive globally.
Pro-growth economic policies really do make a difference, and the evidence is found in job creation right here in our district.
Preparing Students for Success in the Modern Economy
I had the honor of joining the folks at Wharton County Junior College on Thursday for a discussion about the importance of education. Community colleges and other post-secondary institutions play an important role in developing our workforce and are vital to preparing students for the challenges of the modern economy and building a stronger America.
Stay Connected! To represent you well, I need to hear from you! You can stay informed and offer input through Facebook, Twitter, and my website.
