As a small business owner, I understand the importance of cutting taxes and regulation to get Washington out of our business. This is the best way to encourage job creation, inspire innovation, and ensure that the U.S. remains globally competitive. I support the tax cuts that were enacted into law for 2018 and I will defend them from liberals in Washington who want to repeal them and take that money out of your wallets! The tax cuts have spurred hundreds of billions of dollars in investments across American businesses large and small.
Congress must also reclaim its lawmaking authority, which for too long has been given away to executive branch agencies. This has led to unelected bureaucrats making many of the rules that affect the daily lives of citizens. Congress should not only cut regulations but also refuse to delegate its Constitutional lawmaking responsibility to federal agencies.
Long-term, our economic growth depends on getting federal spending under control and reducing our national debt. When our debt grows, it drowns out private investment and increases our debt interest payments, further burdening future generations. We are currently over $21 trillion in debt. In 1995, Congress voted down a Constitutional Balanced Budget Amendment, arguing that they didn’t need it because they had the will to balance the budget themselves. Since that vote, Congress has increased the national debt from $4.97 trillion to over $21 trillion. This cannot be the legacy that we leave to our children and grandchildren. Our out of control borrowing and spending is a serious threat not only to our economy but to our national security as well. I will oppose further government debt and borrowing that will absolutely lead to a financial crisis.
