Last week, the United States government returned a group of asylum seekers to Mexico, under a new policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their requests are processed by U.S. immigration courts. The plan is aimed at discouraging false claims and illegitimate asylum requests, often made by migrants who enter the U.S. illegally and request asylum when caught. The policy will make exceptions for some children or vulnerable populations on an individual basis.

We need to fix our broken asylum system, and I believe this new policy is one practical element of a solution. Please let me know what you think.
